Environmental Policy

Ladybower Apartments enjoy a wonderful setting and it is our aim to operate in the most environmentally responsible manner possible in order to reduce the impact of our business on the landscape and to help preserve the beauty of the National Park.

A symbol of this commitment is our membership of the Green Tourism Business Scheme. This scheme provides independent accreditation and encouragement for tourism businesses to reduce the environmental impact of their activities. By encouraging sustainable practices the scheme ensures the continued enjoyment of the environment around us for future generations.

Some of the key steps that we have taken to reduce our impact are:

• We use local suppliers and services whenever we can.
• We provide fair trade tea, coffee and sugar, environmentally friendly cleaning products, and use recycled products whenever possible.
• We provide lockable cycle storage and information on cycle hire.
• We provide details of local walks, local food suppliers and local places of interest which we hope will enrich your experience of our local area and help you enjoy your stay with us.
• We try to encourage local wildlife through the provision of bird feeders, nest boxes and roosting pockets.
• We encourage recycling wherever possible and any items you wish to recycle that are not collected by the council we will take to the local recycling point.
• We are replacing standard bulbs where possible with energy saving light bulbs. We monitor and manage our energy use and continually investigate measures that reduce the consumption of resources such as electricity, fuel and water.
• We aim to integrate the consideration of environmental concerns and impacts into all of our decision-making activities.
• We provide appropriate training to our employees and encourage them to contribute to our environmental policy with new ideas, suggestions for improvements, best practices from elsewhere, etc.
• We promote businesses and schemes that aim to conserve the special features of the Peak District National Park i.e. Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, the Dams and Dambusters Museum.

How does our commitment affect you?

Our efforts have been designed specifically to have a positive impact on your stay at Ladybower Apartments as it is important to us that our efforts do not limit your enjoyment of your stay with us.

We appreciate your efforts in saving water and energy, turning off lights when leaving the apartment, using the thermostats to control your heating requirements, supporting local businesses, placing items in the recycling bins, etc.
